STARTING A BUSINESS / WITH STEVE CODY

Build a business.
Make it your own.

An idea is a starting point. Together, we can work out what it could become, who it serves, and whether building it fits the life you want.

Let’s start with a coffee

A PERSONAL APPROACH

First, a coffee.
Then, a conversation.

Every entrepreneur is different. So is every situation. I don’t offer a cookie-cutter template or assume you need the same support as the next person.

We start by talking about where you are, what you want, and what’s on your mind. Before deciding to work together, we both need to feel comfortable with the relationship—and you need to feel confident that I can add value.

If it feels like a good fit, we agree on the support that makes sense for you, the priorities, and how we’ll work together.

WHAT WE COULD WORK ON

Support shaped
around your situation.

These are some of the areas we can explore. What we focus on depends on you, your business, and the decisions in front of you.

01

Start with you

What kind of entrepreneur are you? We talk about your strengths, experience, appetite for risk, family commitments, and what success would mean to you. More freedom, a dependable income, and ambitious growth can lead to very different business choices.

02

Flesh out the idea

Who is the customer, what problem are you solving, and why would they choose you? We can explore competitors, pricing, and practical ways to test demand before you make a major commitment.

03

Turn the idea into a workable plan

You may need a business plan, a clearer business model, or simply a realistic set of next steps. We can work through startup costs, cash needs, early priorities, and the assumptions that need testing.

04

Think through financing and raising money

How much capital might you need, and what would you use it for? We can prepare the story and presentation for conversations with lenders, investors, or potential partners, and consider what outside money could mean for control and expectations.

05

Make technology work for the business

From everyday tools and AI to a website, software product, or marketplace, we can identify what you need now, what can wait, and how to approach development without losing sight of the customer.

06

Build the right team and prepare to grow

We can discuss partners, early hires, responsibilities, customer acquisition, and simple operating systems. As the business develops, we can look at when to scale and what needs to be working before you do.

EXPERIENCE I BRING

Lessons from
being in the business.

I started with Cody Window Cleaning and went on to build businesses in scaffolding, equipment rentals, events, software, and marketplaces. Cody Party grew from a disappointing rental experience. Better Software grew from tools we had built to run our own companies. Those experiences help me ask practical questions about customers, resources, people, and what to build first.
